What Are Day & Night Blinds?

Day & Night blinds feature two layers of fabric with alternating transparent and opaque horizontal stripes. As you operate the blind, the layers slide past each other, allowing the stripes to overlap.

"Day" Mode: Align the transparent sections to let soft, filtered light into your home while maintaining an outward view.
"Night" Mode: Adjust the blind so the opaque stripes cover the transparent ones, creating a solid panel for total privacy and reduced light entry.

They are very low-maintenance. Because of the fabric construction, a light dust with a microfiber cloth or a soft brush attachment on your vacuum is usually all that is needed to keep them looking brand new.

Day & Night blinds are designed to offer a balance of light and privacy rather than 100% blackout. They are excellent for bedrooms where you want to wake up with natural light, but if you require total darkness for cinema rooms, we would recommend pairing them with our [Blackout Blind Screens™] or a dedicated blackout roller system.

By operating the blind, the layers slide past one another, allowing you to overlap the strips to either let soft, filtered light in or create a solid panel for total privacy. They are essentially the perfect blend of a roller blind and a sheer curtain.

These blinds operate on a simple, smooth roller mechanism. As you pull the operating chain or use the wand, the dual-layer fabric moves up or down. Because the layers are linked, the stripes shift relative to each other. When the opaque stripes line up, they block the view and light; when they offset against the transparent stripes, they allow light and vision through. This gives you precise, fingertip control over your home’s light levels throughout the day.

Day & Night blinds are remarkably low-maintenance. For regular upkeep, a simple dust-down with a clean, dry microfiber cloth or a feather duster is usually sufficient. If you need a deeper clean, you can use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment on a very low suction setting to gently remove any dust from the fabric stripes. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners or soaking the fabric in water, as this can damage the structural integrity and the finish of the material.

We strongly advise against attempting to cut these blinds yourself. Because Day & Night blinds rely on a precise, dual-layer alignment and a specialized headrail mechanism, any manual cutting can cause the fabric to fray, the stripes to become misaligned, or the mechanism to jam.
